Paceman Atkinson Exacerbates England's Injury Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson added to the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the ground early on day two in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler pulled up with his hamstring after the final ball that he bowled at the MCG.

The touring camp reported the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the series in Sydney gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

England have already lost strike bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad to provide backup.

The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was dropped from the previous Test, then recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 as a batsman as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a variation to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
