An Australian man who vaulted past a barrier and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.

The man, twenty-six, was given a sentence to over a week in prison for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed news outlets.

The man shoved through camera crews and charged at the performer and artist, who was attending the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

Wen has a history of interrupting performances and high-profile gatherings, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in this summer.

The incident provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people claiming he of causing further distress to the star.

The pop star has discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her concert in the UK city in May 2017 took the lives of over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.

In the legal process, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the movie's debut twice, according to regional reports.

He then made a another effort to breach security. Event security stopped him and restrained him.

The man subsequently shared video clips appreciating the celebrity for allowing his presence and said he was "free."

Police took him into custody the next day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The District Judge Christopher Goh was cited by media reports as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was mistaken to think he would not face any penalties.

The singer has not commented on the situation.

Cynthia Erivo discussed the event to a media outlet, remarking that she "only aimed to ensure my co-star was safe."

"I think he didn't mean us harm, but you can't predict with those things, and I sought to confirm that she was OK. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
