Jurgen Klopp says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.

The club claimed the league title last season, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would embrace the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead any other side on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”
“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”
Conditions for a Comeback
When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to draw him back to management, he revealed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences repeatedly each week or constant media duties weekly.
“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, that’s nice. We won a lot of games thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in every contest following significant transfers, though he denied the idea that it might signal a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash with his brother recently.
“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys as well. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results though it's a fact. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this individually is challenging. Unbearable.”
