Fans Demand Arrest of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the pop star are calling for that a man who breached a fence and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip depicts the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further message on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared startled when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two contrasting witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
