Brian Eno Urges Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The track features a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
