A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

It might not have been at the same level as pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Annually, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
